Parents of internationally adopted children and those who work with them need to be aware of second language acquisition and development so they can make proper educational choices. This session will help them understand how to support a child's first language to facilitate the second language (typically English). Misunderstandings can lead to over-representation of these children in special education. The presenter will explore and share details regarding second language acquisition and its implications for adopted children.
